Paddington Reservoir is a state heritage-listed site reminiscent of the ancient Baths of Caracalla in Rome. With a length of 33m, a width of 31m and depth of 5m the reservoir was completed in 1866 and held 2 million gallons (9,092 megalitres) of water until its closure in 1899. After the sites closure the reservoir was adaptively reused by the water board in 1914 to house its garage and workshop until its sale in 1934. The western chamber was subsequently adaptively reused as a service station. The site suffered two roof collapses in the early 1990’s and as a consequence was closed. The reservoir was further adaptively reused and in 2009 opened as a community park & garden space.

The Landscape Architect for the project was JMD Design
