Welcome to the Berrima Gaol

About the project

Our vision for the site is founded on an underlying desire that any future use must be one of principally serving as a guardian of the history and heritage of the centre whilst bringing to the region a new and exciting place to work, visit, stay and enjoy.
— Blue Sox Group

In 2022 the Berrima Gaol site was sold by the NSW Government via an expression of interest campaign, with the Blue Sox Group being the successful bidder. The historic site is currently closed to the public and in need of a new lease on life. The site is also rich with potential for residents and visitors of Berrima and the Southern Highlands.

The focus of any future development will be on bringing people together, while being respectful and supportive of the history and heritage significance of the site.

The development we will be proposing is an adaptive re-use of the Berrima Gaol. This will incorporate a boutique hotel facility supported by independent businesses, venues and spaces.

In restoring the gaol and repurposing the site into a more accessible and welcoming place, we hope to honour this piece of colonial history on the southern highlands, enhance the Berrima Gaol site’s position on the Southern Highlands visitor trail and provide the local community and visitors a place to gather, visit, stay and enjoy.
